Review: Strange Angels

This book counts towards the Shifter challenge.

Dru knows how the Real World works.  With her dad, she travels the country, hunting things that go bump in the night.  Well, he hunts, and she helps out.  Dru thought the latest job would be just like all the rest: move in, knock off a few supernaturals, and move out.  She didn't even bother unpacking the moving boxes.

But this job is different.  Dru's dad is turned into a zombie, and Dru is forced to kill him.  Everything is spiraling out of control: monsters with powers way too powerful, eerie new beings Dru can't explain, and her own inexplicably increasing abilities.  Her only ally is a human teenager, but even he is changing into something - different.  The monsters are hunting back, and it'll take everything Dru's got to survive...

Entertainment: ★★★

It was surprisingly scary, interesting, and enjoyable - I had a great time with it.

Plot: ★★★★★

The plot was cool.  It grabbed me within just a few pages and refused to let me go.  It was fast-paced, exciting, and actually really unique too.

Characters: ★★★★

I liked Graves and I loved Dru.  I knocked off a star because I didn't like the bad guy much - he wasn't all that interesting or threatening.  But the protagonists were great.

Writing: ★★★★

St. Crow really has a gift for painting pictures with words.

End Result: four stars.  A good book, definitely worth your time.
